Welcome Visitors!
Welcome to the internet home of St. Herman Orthodox Christian Church. You may be wondering what denomination "Orthodox Christianity" is if you have not heard of it before. You may be surprised to know that Orthodox Christianity predates denominations. The Orthodox Church is the oldest Christian Church around. That means it is the very first Church established by Jesus Christ and His Apostles! To experience the Orthodox Church is to know what worshiping God was like for the earliest Christians. The early Church's Holy Tradition, the Apostolic Faith: theology, spirituality, and worship, has been passed down through the ages and is still preserved today in the Orthodox Church. Our Sunday service is called the Divine Liturgy.

Every Sunday morning at the Divine Liturgy, Holy Communion is served by the priest to Orthodox Christians who have prepared themselves. Holy Communion is one of many Holy Mysteries (i.e. Sacraments) observed by Orthodox Christians. Everyone is welcome to attend the Divine Liturgy or any of our Services (e.g. Great Vespers on Saturdays at 5 pm). To participate in the Sacrament of Holy Communion, one must first be baptized and chrismated an Orthodox Christian. Baptism and Chrismation are two more of the Holy Mysteries of the Orthodox Church.

If you are curious to learn more about the Orthodox Faith, our website can be a helpful tool for you. In the Orthodox Faith section of our site, you will find many simple explanations of what Orthodox Christians believe and why. Our Education section also has many other helpful learning materials that will allow you to gain even greater insight. The best way to get to know Christian Orthodoxy is to "come and see". Spend "a month of Sundays" with us. In addition, if you have any questions about visiting our parish or Orthodox beliefs, you may contact the priest of St. Herman Orthodox Church, Father John Armstrong. We're glad you found us! We look forward to meeting you in person someday soon!
