Welcome to St. Herman Orthodox Church!

You may be wondering what denomination “Orthodox Christians” belong to, but Orthodox Christianity predates denominations! The Orthodox Church is the oldest Christian Church on earth; it is the “one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church” established by Jesus Christ through His Apostles!

And to come worship God in an Orthodox church is to experience what worshiping God was like for the earliest Christians. That early Church’s Holy Tradition, the Apostolic Faith (including Scripture, theology, spirituality, and worship), has been faithfully passed down through the ages (2 Thess 2:15) and is still preserved today in the Orthodox Church.

Every Sunday morning, we gather together for the Divine Liturgy – when heaven and earth synergistically worship the Triune God together. Everyone is welcome to attend the Divine Liturgy (or any of our other services). The height of the Divine Liturgy is participating in Holy Communion, which is served by the priest to Orthodox Christians who have prepared themselves to receive it. And while we long for everyone to participate in this sacrament, it is entrusted only to Orthodox Christians.

There are many Holy Mysteries (aka Sacraments) Orthodox Christians participate in. Holy Communion is just one of them. Baptism and Chrismation are two others, which unite a person to Christ, making them Orthodox Christians – living members of His One Body, the One Church. If you are desiring to participate in this sacramental life, please come to our services and chat with Fr. Nicholas.

THE BEST WAY TO GET TO KNOW US IS TO “COME AND SEE.”

We encourage you to spend a ‘month of Sundays’ with us. And if you have any questions about visiting our parish or about Orthodox beliefs, you are welcome to contact our pastor, Fr. Nicholas Johnson. He would be more than happy to answer your questions.

We’re very glad you found us, and we look forward to meeting you soon!
